The Mermaid Water Protector, Niibiinikwe Water Woman. The Anishinaabe have a long history with water people and indeed have a mermaid person clan. The Anishinaabe live in a world which is half water and half land. This painting was inspired by Mary Moose one of our esteemed elders and is named for her.
