Water Protectors Blend: Dark roast with a subtle sweet hint of chocolate, definitely one of the favored blends. Our choices here are El Salvadorian, Honduras and Costa Rica small batch producers. We name this in honor of Water Protectors.  And, this coffee is roasted by Water Protectors.

Our "Water Protector'sSpotted Horse coffee blend by Winona LaDuke is fair trade and organic coffee roasted here on the White Earth Reservation in NW Minnesota. Beans are specially selected and blended from El Salvador, Chiapas and Costa Rican. Beans are farmed and produced by women.

El Salvador has made history after becoming the first country in the world to ban metal mining. Lawmakers in the water-parched country passed the ban in a unanimous vote on Wednesday, declaring El Salvador a mining-free territory. More than 90% of El Salvador’s surface waters are estimated to be polluted by toxic chemicals, heavy metals and waste matter.

Water Protectors hit the streets, grassroots and fought a long and hard battle. In March 2017, the water won over gold. This historic victory is down to the clarity and determination of the Salvadoran people, water protectors, fighting for life over the economic interests of a few.

Spotted Horse Coffees celebrates the Water Protectors through out Indigenous communities worldwide in this special coffee blend of beans. We have chosen beans from amazing Women Coffee Producers and Farmers of El Salvadore mixed with Chiapas and Costal Rican creating a robust smoky dark blend.

We have always been water protectors. Once you could drink all of the water here, but the folly of the Wiindigo Economy has changed that. We continue to protect our water- from mining, logging and nowthe Enbridge pipelines and proposed mines . Over the past four years we have joined with other Indigenous allies and local citizens to oppose the extreme mining extractions in our region and the extreme pipeline proposals- whether Enbridge, with new lines proposed for our wild rice territory, or Trans Canada and the Keystone Pipeline; we continue our resistance.

Votan’s (indigenous artist) painting is a huge mural in downtown Duluth.

As part of this vision, "Spotted Horse Coffees," Round Lake Roasted Coffee by Winona LaDuke this special blend was created for our  “Water Protectors," offered to Honor the Earth, as profit proceeds to help their powerful work.
